DESCRIPTION
The online course, “Navigating Change: AI-Powered Platforms for Special Education Professionals”, will discuss of AI in different platforms in special education. The evolution of special education has been shaped by a series of landmark changes in educational philosophy, legislation, and technology. Initially, students with disabilities were often excluded from mainstream educational settings, receiving little to no support. The mid-20th century marked a significant turning point, as advocates began to push for the rights of individuals with disabilities to receive an appropriate education. The passage of the Education for All Handicapped Children Act in 1975, later reauthorized as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), mandated that public schools provide free and appropriate education to all students, including those with special needs. This legislation laid the groundwork for inclusive education practices and the development of specialized curricula tailored to meet diverse learning requirements.
