The online course, “Justice in the Classroom: A Guide to Historic Legal Decisions Impacting Special Education”, will discuss legal decision affecting education. The evolution of special education rights has been shaped by a series of landmark legal decisions and legislative actions that have progressively defined the educational landscape for students with disabilities. Historically, individuals with special needs were often excluded from public education systems, facing significant barriers due to societal misconceptions and institutional neglect. It was not until the mid-20th century that a shift began to take place, fueled by a growing awareness of the importance of inclusive education and the rights of all students to receive a quality education.
