Educators Tools For Human Trafficking Of School Aged Children In TEXAS
DESCRIPTION: The eLearning course “EAB-2026-002 Educator’s Tools For Human
Trafficking of School-Aged Children In TEXAS” discusses human and sex
trafficking in the United States, in a school setting, and how to report it
through the FOCUS Program. Around the world human trafficking is often referred
to as “Modern Day Slavery”. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) defines
human trafficking as the act of gathering, moving, receiving, or keeping human
beings by threat, force, coercion, or deception, for exploitative purposes.
According to the Department of Justice, human trafficking, also known as trafficking
in persons, is a crime that involves compelling or coercing a person to provide
labor or services, or to engage in commercial sex acts. The coercion can be
subtle or overt, physical or psychological.
Exploitation of a minor for commercial sex is human trafficking,
regardless of whether any form of force, fraud, or coercion was used.
The course
designed to prepare Education Advisory Board Officers/Committee Members,
candidates, interns, faculty, contractors, school personnel, compliance
personnel, and organizational leadership personnel to recognize, respond to,
report, and prevent human trafficking involving school-age children within
educational settings.
