LIFESPAN2025-1
Lifespan Development: Special Education Services 0-5 years old
DESCRIPTION:
The
eLearning course "Lifespan Development: Special
Education Services 0-5 years Old" discusses
the requirements of Child Find Framework and the responsibilities of school
district/charter schools. The Child Find Framework requires, local school
districts and charter school to have in place or develop a system to reach the
population of at least 3 years old but not older than 6 years old to determine
if enrollment in special education is needed. Both entities must ensure the
child has the opportunity to receive a “Free Appropriate Public
Education (FAPE) for any child. To make sure the child’s rights are not
violated the school district/charter school must also follow the following
frameworks: 1. Visual Impairment Framework, 2. Auditory Impairment Framework,
3. Noncategorical Early Childhood, and 4. Deaf-Blindness Framework. If the
child meets the eligibility for special education services, then one of the
following needs to be created; Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or an
Individual Educational Plan (IEP). This would also include having in place a
transitional plan based on IDEA-C and IDEA-B Preschool Programs.
